What is Trade Finance?

If you are involved in businesses that regularly engage in international trade, it would be extremely helpful to have a trade finance account to help mitigate the risks associated with international purchases. Of course, we normally pride ourselves in being able to establish strong relationships with our business partners, but in the end this is no substitute to fair risk management via trade financing.

Some of the scenarios where trade financing is an extremely valuable arrangement are as follows:

  • Suppose you are purchasing goods from a supplier based in another country and that supplier requests that you pay for the goods before they are shipped; in most cases, this arrangement only becomes acceptable when you have trade financing. Basically, trade finance helps to mitigate the risks by involving reputable banks that provide various forms to support the legitimacy of the transaction. Your bank can now talk to the supplier’s bank and execute the necessary documentation to ensure that the transaction happens as agreed.
  • Another trade finance transaction governing the same agreement is when parties execute a trade credit insurance. Trade credit insurance works much like other insurance policies in that it protects a company from risks associated with goods that have yet to be received. These insurance policies allow a company to transfer liability to the banks so they can be protected from fraud or business eventualities like bankruptcy or default.

Today, most companies that engage in international trade rarely complete a transaction without the benefit of trade financing. As such, they have established trade finance accounts which are funds dedicated to managing and executing international trade risk management strategies. These strategies are closely managed by banks which hedge the transactions.

If you are operating on an international scale and you wish to avail of the security offered by trade financing, it is best to open trade finance accounts to help you execute your risk management options. Pick a reputable bank to handle your affairs so you can focus on securing the goods that will help you grow your business. By sharing the risk with the banks, you are enlisting the help of a reliable partner that will help you fleece out the risks and manage them on a tactical basis. It’s a win-win situation for any business owners and frankly, it is a strategy that all business owners who are involved in international trade should seek out.

Do What You Want

What Is Your Passion?

In order to do what you want, we need to actually find out what it is that you want to do.

So think deep down what it is that drives you. What is it that you want to do in life?

Just take a moment and write down what you think about the most.

For a long time I got sidetracked with things I wanted to be instead of what I wanted to do. Let me explain that and it might help you.

When I was younger I always wanted to be a lawyer because I loved the thought of arguing why my client is innocent. I loved finding ways around rules and such just so that I could prove I was right.

Then I came to the realization that Lawyers have to read a bunch of boring stuff, so I threw that idea out.

Then I wanted to be an accountant because I was getting good with money….and they pretty good money. But then I realized that it’s pretty boring work….and once again they have to read a lot of boring stuff.

So after that idea was thrown out I was at lunch with a friend and he asked me,

What are you passionate about?

What do you want to do in life?

No one ever seriously asked me that before. It took me back and I thought for a moment and said “I want to help people get their finances together because I know how much life sucks when you’re living paycheck to paycheck.”

Fast forward to today and I’ve started this site to help people get their finances together so that they can have the life they want.

I even changed the direction I’m going in once I realized that people can have the life they want even if they aren’t financially fit.

So try thinking back to a problem you overcame and see if you would like to help other people get past that problem. Your passion will change through time but the general framework will always be there.

Just sit down for 30 minutes to an hour and write out your answers to the questions

What is your passion?

What do you want to do in life?

Try to get rid of all of the distractions so that you can put all of your focus into your answers.

Please do this exercise so that you can help me realize my passion of helping people.

Spread Your Passion

By now you should be de-cluttered and know what your passion is, or at least have an idea. If you don’t, it’s ok. It’ll come to you.

So today we’re going to go deep into your mind again. This is a very important part because we’ve been trained since a very early age that we need to have 9-5 corporate job. It’s the norm but that doesn’t mean it’s the only way. Packing up ship and sailing across the ocean to form a colony wasn’t the norm but it turned out for the best.

We’re blazing a trail to a new way of living. Actually doing something that you love and making money doing it isn’t that far out there. Think about it this way, if you love something, you’re going to know about it in and out. There are other people that enjoy what you’re doing as well and are going to want to know as much as you. So how are they going to learn?

You!

You’re going to help spread your passion and they are going to show their appreciation by paying you for your knowledge. It’s a win win situation.

But the deep question you need to ask yourself is Do you believe you can do what you want and make a living? did you say yes?

If you say yes then you are making a commitment to actually take the knowledge you are going to learn in the rest of this course and put it to use. You don’t have to jump into this world head first. I kinda didn’t. I had a full time job while I was building this world. Then I was let go from that job before I was ready to jump in but I took it in stride.

There’s never going to be a right time and I promise you that once you enter the world of doing what you want you will be more free, creative and happy than you ever were before. Your brain will just burst with new ideas, why? Because it turns in to survival mode which makes it a dangerous thing. You’re going to try things you never thought would work….and it’s going to work.

You know what you need to do but sometimes you need a kick in the ass to actually go through with it.

So today you need to write on a piece of paper: “Why am I not making a living doing what I want?” and then write down your answer. Make it a list if it’s more than 1 thing, it probably will be. Then next to each thing that’s stopping you, write out how important is that thing in your life. If it’s not important then mark it off and forget about it. Then comes the important things. Brainstorm different solutions that can help turn those stop’s into go’s. The Internet is a massive place of information, use it. I promise you someone has had the same hangups as you. Learn from others.

This is what’s going to get you from stopping yourself from doing what you want. Only you are creating those blocks. They aren’t saying no, you are. So once you find a solution that you will find satisfactory then you will have destroyed the mind blocks that are holding you back.

If for some reason you can’t find a solution then let me know or leave a comment below and we’ll see what we can come up with.

This is a big project that the rest of this course hinges on, so I’m going to give you a couple of days to get through this. You can do this. I know you can because I can and I promise you I didn’t think I could do it either. But you have to get past yourself and actually believe in yourself.

I’ll talk to ya in a couple of days and we’ll get into the good stuff.

Get Your Website Up And Running Part 1

Now it’s time to get into the technical side.

I’m going to show you that it’s easier than you think to get a website up and running which is how you’ll start making money. This is a little long so in order for you to not get overwhelmed I’m breaking it up into a couple of posts.

This first part is getting a host, getting a name and domain, and then installing WordPress (I’ll explain what that is in a little bit).

In the next post I’ll show you how to make it functional and pretty.

So let’s begin.

The first thing you are going to want to do is think of a name to call it because you’re going to be stuck with it. We’ll you could change it in the future but it’s not the best thing to do.

So brainstorm names that can be your real name, something to do with your passion, or whatever. Don’t get too held up by a name. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and don’t let it be the reason you don’t move forward.

Next, see if it’s available as a domain (www.xxxxxxx.com is what a domain name is).

So go to Namecheap.com and on the main page it says start your domain search. Type in the name you want and search. It’s going to show you all of the available domains that have that name in it like .com, .net, .org, etc. You’re going to want .com. . Net is ok but .com is better. So if you’re not against adjusting the name to get .com I’d go for a new name and get the .com.

But if you have to have it then get the .net.

I get my domain names from there because it’s pretty cheap and it’s best to have your domain names separate from your website host just to make any transition or change easier.

Once you have a name head on over to HostGator.com and sign up for one of their hosting packages. I’d recommend at least the baby plan so that you can add more domain names in the future to expand your empire. If you use this link http://www.financiallypoor.com/go/HostGator/ and the code FinanciallyPoor you’ll get the first month for 1 penny!

That’s so cheap! There’s no reason not to.

But the awesome thing is that they have really reliable uptime. I’ve had problems with other hosting companies where my sites would go down at least twice a week, That can equal a lot of money. I’ve probably only gone down twice ever since I’ve been using HostGator and they were very responsive and it was only for a few minutes.

I love them so much that I use them for all of my sites.

(I have since switched my sites to a hostnine.com reseller account because they have the ability to set up each site with a different IP address. That is more of an advanced tactic, so I still highly recommend HostGator for beginners and never had a problem with them.)

To get your domain and host to work together, go to your account on NameCheap and select on your domain name you purchased. Then on the left side select Transfer DNS to Webhost. Then type in the 2 name servers that you received in one of your emails from HostGator. Don’t worry, you’ll understand this once you sign up.

Now that you have a domain and hosting plan, it’s time to install WordPress, which is basically the frame of the website.

Think of it like a frame of a car. It’s where you sit and allows you to control the website. A theme, which we’ll get to in the next email, is what makes it look pretty.

So you’ll get an email with the link and login information to your control panel from HostGator. Go there and login in. Once you login, there will be a bunch of links organized on the right side.

Go down to software/services and select quick install. Then on the next page there will be links organized on the left. Go under Blog Software and select WordPress. Then select your site and fill out the required info and then BAM. You have a website now.

So that’s it for now.

Sorry for the long post but I want to give you as much knowledge as possible.

Ready to Quit Your Day Job? Three Ways to Earn an Income From Home

SWork from homeince the first dial-up connection was established, people have sought ways to make money online and work from home. In the early days of the Internet, many of the “work from home” advertisements ended up being illegitimate and costing money.

Fortunately, as the Internet has matured, several legitimate ways to earn an income from home have emerged. Whether you open an online store that makes use of online postage programs or start a promising freelance career, you can work from home with a real career.

Yes, You Can Work From Home!

Many people view work-from-home opportunities as scams or employment reserved for a select few. However, anyone is capable of earning money online with motivation, marketable skills and discipline. As you start investigating work-from-home opportunities, realize anything that promises to make you rich quickly is probably illegitimate. Like a traditional career, building an online career takes time, effort and dedication.

Remember, you are not limited to one source of income: Many successful self-employed individuals have multiple sources. Here are three potential opportunities for a career at home:

  1. Open an Online Store. A significant amount of commerce is conducted online these days. Consider getting your share by opening your own online store. Begin by deciding what you’d like to sell. You may craft your own products or resell others. Some successful storeowners buy locally made products and then offer them to an international audience. Your next step is to create your store. Purchase a hosting account, SSL certificate, commerce software and a merchant account. Once all this is configured, you’ll be ready to offer your products. In your home, designate an area for online work as well as a shipping area. This will create a streamlined process, allowing you to print your own shipping labels and package products and send them.

  2. Start a Freelance Career. Freelancing has been around for decades; however, with the ever-increasing interconnectivity of businesses around the world, the market for freelancers has exponentially increased. Essentially any type of specialized skill that requires computers can be parlayed into a freelance career. Among the most popular are writing, web design and financial services. Spend time perfecting your skill, and start browsing freelance job boards. Once you take your first assignment, put a significant amount of time into it so it’s of the highest quality. Most freelancers depend on repeat work from clients; quality is important. Whether you’re a graphic designer or a programmer, you can start a freelance career and work from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection.

  3. Become a Blogger. Nearly every website these days has a blog. What once started as online journals has become a method of information delivery that has transformed the Internet. If you have a particular set of skills, talents or hobbies, you can become a successful blogger. It takes a significant amount of time and effort to create a successful blog; however, it can become your only source of income. You can monetize with downloadable product offerings, placed advertisements and affiliate programs. Start blogging now about your passion to build a new online career.

Say Goodbye to Bosses and Schedules

While you will have to maintain a schedule to be successful, it will be your schedule. Once you quit your job, you will no longer have strict bosses, rigid schedules or a dreaded cubicle. Build up your online career until you are confident that you’ll be able to maintain your current standard of living. While this may take time, with consistent work you’ll be able to say goodbye to the 9-to-5 grind once and for all.
