Do What You Want

What Is Your Passion?

In order to do what you want, we need to actually find out what it is that you want to do.

So think deep down what it is that drives you. What is it that you want to do in life?

Just take a moment and write down what you think about the most.

For a long time I got sidetracked with things I wanted to be instead of what I wanted to do. Let me explain that and it might help you.

When I was younger I always wanted to be a lawyer because I loved the thought of arguing why my client is innocent. I loved finding ways around rules and such just so that I could prove I was right.

Then I came to the realization that Lawyers have to read a bunch of boring stuff, so I threw that idea out.

Then I wanted to be an accountant because I was getting good with money….and they pretty good money. But then I realized that it’s pretty boring work….and once again they have to read a lot of boring stuff.

So after that idea was thrown out I was at lunch with a friend and he asked me,

What are you passionate about?

What do you want to do in life?

No one ever seriously asked me that before. It took me back and I thought for a moment and said “I want to help people get their finances together because I know how much life sucks when you’re living paycheck to paycheck.”

Fast forward to today and I’ve started this site to help people get their finances together so that they can have the life they want.

I even changed the direction I’m going in once I realized that people can have the life they want even if they aren’t financially fit.

So try thinking back to a problem you overcame and see if you would like to help other people get past that problem. Your passion will change through time but the general framework will always be there.

Just sit down for 30 minutes to an hour and write out your answers to the questions

What is your passion?

What do you want to do in life?

Try to get rid of all of the distractions so that you can put all of your focus into your answers.

Please do this exercise so that you can help me realize my passion of helping people.

Ready to Quit Your Day Job? Three Ways to Earn an Income From Home

SWork from homeince the first dial-up connection was established, people have sought ways to make money online and work from home. In the early days of the Internet, many of the “work from home” advertisements ended up being illegitimate and costing money.

Fortunately, as the Internet has matured, several legitimate ways to earn an income from home have emerged. Whether you open an online store that makes use of online postage programs or start a promising freelance career, you can work from home with a real career.

Yes, You Can Work From Home!

Many people view work-from-home opportunities as scams or employment reserved for a select few. However, anyone is capable of earning money online with motivation, marketable skills and discipline. As you start investigating work-from-home opportunities, realize anything that promises to make you rich quickly is probably illegitimate. Like a traditional career, building an online career takes time, effort and dedication.

Remember, you are not limited to one source of income: Many successful self-employed individuals have multiple sources. Here are three potential opportunities for a career at home:

  1. Open an Online Store. A significant amount of commerce is conducted online these days. Consider getting your share by opening your own online store. Begin by deciding what you’d like to sell. You may craft your own products or resell others. Some successful storeowners buy locally made products and then offer them to an international audience. Your next step is to create your store. Purchase a hosting account, SSL certificate, commerce software and a merchant account. Once all this is configured, you’ll be ready to offer your products. In your home, designate an area for online work as well as a shipping area. This will create a streamlined process, allowing you to print your own shipping labels and package products and send them.

  2. Start a Freelance Career. Freelancing has been around for decades; however, with the ever-increasing interconnectivity of businesses around the world, the market for freelancers has exponentially increased. Essentially any type of specialized skill that requires computers can be parlayed into a freelance career. Among the most popular are writing, web design and financial services. Spend time perfecting your skill, and start browsing freelance job boards. Once you take your first assignment, put a significant amount of time into it so it’s of the highest quality. Most freelancers depend on repeat work from clients; quality is important. Whether you’re a graphic designer or a programmer, you can start a freelance career and work from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection.

  3. Become a Blogger. Nearly every website these days has a blog. What once started as online journals has become a method of information delivery that has transformed the Internet. If you have a particular set of skills, talents or hobbies, you can become a successful blogger. It takes a significant amount of time and effort to create a successful blog; however, it can become your only source of income. You can monetize with downloadable product offerings, placed advertisements and affiliate programs. Start blogging now about your passion to build a new online career.

Say Goodbye to Bosses and Schedules

While you will have to maintain a schedule to be successful, it will be your schedule. Once you quit your job, you will no longer have strict bosses, rigid schedules or a dreaded cubicle. Build up your online career until you are confident that you’ll be able to maintain your current standard of living. While this may take time, with consistent work you’ll be able to say goodbye to the 9-to-5 grind once and for all.

Get Your Website Up And Running Part 1

Now it’s time to get into the technical side.

I’m going to show you that it’s easier than you think to get a website up and running which is how you’ll start making money. This is a little long so in order for you to not get overwhelmed I’m breaking it up into a couple of posts.

This first part is getting a host, getting a name and domain, and then installing WordPress (I’ll explain what that is in a little bit).

In the next post I’ll show you how to make it functional and pretty.

So let’s begin.

The first thing you are going to want to do is think of a name to call it because you’re going to be stuck with it. We’ll you could change it in the future but it’s not the best thing to do.

So brainstorm names that can be your real name, something to do with your passion, or whatever. Don’t get too held up by a name. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and don’t let it be the reason you don’t move forward.

Next, see if it’s available as a domain (www.xxxxxxx.com is what a domain name is).

So go to Namecheap.com and on the main page it says start your domain search. Type in the name you want and search. It’s going to show you all of the available domains that have that name in it like .com, .net, .org, etc. You’re going to want .com. . Net is ok but .com is better. So if you’re not against adjusting the name to get .com I’d go for a new name and get the .com.

But if you have to have it then get the .net.

I get my domain names from there because it’s pretty cheap and it’s best to have your domain names separate from your website host just to make any transition or change easier.

Once you have a name head on over to HostGator.com and sign up for one of their hosting packages. I’d recommend at least the baby plan so that you can add more domain names in the future to expand your empire. If you use this link http://www.financiallypoor.com/go/HostGator/ and the code FinanciallyPoor you’ll get the first month for 1 penny!

That’s so cheap! There’s no reason not to.

But the awesome thing is that they have really reliable uptime. I’ve had problems with other hosting companies where my sites would go down at least twice a week, That can equal a lot of money. I’ve probably only gone down twice ever since I’ve been using HostGator and they were very responsive and it was only for a few minutes.

I love them so much that I use them for all of my sites.

(I have since switched my sites to a hostnine.com reseller account because they have the ability to set up each site with a different IP address. That is more of an advanced tactic, so I still highly recommend HostGator for beginners and never had a problem with them.)

To get your domain and host to work together, go to your account on NameCheap and select on your domain name you purchased. Then on the left side select Transfer DNS to Webhost. Then type in the 2 name servers that you received in one of your emails from HostGator. Don’t worry, you’ll understand this once you sign up.

Now that you have a domain and hosting plan, it’s time to install WordPress, which is basically the frame of the website.

Think of it like a frame of a car. It’s where you sit and allows you to control the website. A theme, which we’ll get to in the next email, is what makes it look pretty.

So you’ll get an email with the link and login information to your control panel from HostGator. Go there and login in. Once you login, there will be a bunch of links organized on the right side.

Go down to software/services and select quick install. Then on the next page there will be links organized on the left. Go under Blog Software and select WordPress. Then select your site and fill out the required info and then BAM. You have a website now.

So that’s it for now.

Sorry for the long post but I want to give you as much knowledge as possible.

5 Great Benefits of Renting a Photo Studio

Outdoor pictures can offer candid shots. However, an indoor studio setting is valuable if you want to produce formal family photos or portraits that your clients will treasure and save for years. A studio offers photographers specific amenities that they cannot get outdoors. Since not every photographer can afford to set up their own studio, renting one is a great idea. Read on to know the benefits of leasing a professional photography studio.

Equipment

Most photography shooting facilities have professional equipment and gear. Some of the machinery may be too expensive for most ordinary photographers to acquire. However, you may rent these devices at a small fee from the studio.  This will give you freedom to test out and utilize various photography gear that you may not otherwise have access to.  You will also have the advantage of using them in one place rather than moving around with them from one location to another.

Background choices

Most indoor studios will have a wide range of photography background choices. You will have various textures, scenery and colors, ensuring that you get the look that you want. Most studios will have countless props that you can use. They will also provide different furniture such as chairs, stools and vintage furniture pieces. Some studios will even provide costumes, clothing, and masks to help you achieve the look that you want.

Controlled environment

When photos are taken in an outdoor setting, it is difficult to control the weather patterns and physical distractions. The wind can come in any time and it might start raining just when you are starting your photo shoot. Furthermore, outdoor elements may mess up with the makeup, hair and even clothing of your models. An indoor photo studio is free from distractions as you are able to control every element that you want to regulate.

Assistance

Photographers who have little studio experience can get help from individuals working in the photography studio. These professionals will offer advice, answer your questions and help you out whenever you have any problem. This can be of great help, especially if you want to use equipment that you are not familiar with or want to try out new photography styles.

Acquire knowledge

Renting a photography studio space can be a learning experience for most photographers. Studio owners are knowledgeable about this field and will readily pass this knowledge to you. This is because they have dealt with photographers who specialize in different genres and with varying experience levels. They acquire lots of knowledge through having conversations, observations and interactions with different professionals. They will offer tricks and tips of the photography trade, lighting techniques and even sound business advice that will help you in the long run.

Professional studio photography will cost you money in the long run. However, you will be guaranteed of getting high-quality and valuable photos as your final product. Furthermore, you will not regret your decision whenever you look at the photos that you have produced.  Make sure that you rent a studio that provides a comfortable environment. This will ensure that your mind is focused on churning out high-quality pictures without any distractions.

How To Make Money When Starting A Website

It’s time to start making money.

Today I’m going to go into how to make money by selling other peoples stuff. This is called being an affiliate.

You send traffic to others peoples sales page and have them do all the hard work.

This is great for someone just starting out to get some experience under their belt and gain a little spending money.

You’re not going to get a lot of money from this in the beginning because you have to get some traffic (I’ll go into that in another email) in order to tell someone about the product.

But the good thing is that you can get traffic from search engines by creating a post that is a review of the product.

So the title could be “Product” Review.

That way when someone looks up a review of that product, one of your posts will be in the results and they’ll buy through you.

So where are you going to get these products?

I’m glad you asked.

There are several sites that are packed with all of these products. Here are the ones that I use.

PayDotCom – They are lesser used, so the products in there aren’t promoted as much as other sites. That equals a goldmine.

ClickBank – Well known and the biggest choice of products.

Those will get you started on the path to affiliate sales.

There are also opportunities to tell people about sales and businesses.

Here are a couple of great sites that have promotions and businesses that you can promote as well.

Flexoffers– Lots of great businesses to promote.

Logical Media– My favorite because they are always sending me new limited time promotions.

There is 1 important thing that you need to do when promoting affiliate products.

Have some knowledge of the product that you’re promoting. You don’t have to buy every product that you promote, but at least read up on it. You don’t want to promote something that’s going to give you a bad name.

If you do then people won’t buy your products when they come out.
