Start Doing What You Want

I want to welcome you to the rest of your life.

It’s not everyday that we take the steps necessary to make a life we want. I’ve been doing that for a little bit on the side but I didn’t go full speed until I was let go from my day job.

When that happened my heart was racing but you know what? I wasn’t scared.

My heart was racing because one, it came out of nowhere so it was more of a surprise than anything, but two because I knew I wanted more than what that job could give me and I was ready to hit the ground running with my new endeavor of working for me, being my own boss.

I’ve been that way part time for about 8 months before I lost my job, so I did have a small net to catch me.

The point I’m trying to make is that you should start NOW!

Start planning your escape from the job world before they kick you out and you have no choice but to go back begging for a new one.

I made an alternative life for myself, and while I was thrust into it a little sooner than I planned, I’m more than happy about being my own person, with my own dress code, and my own rules.

Is that you want in life?

If it is, then get excited because this course is going to show you how I set up my side business doing what I love and how you can do the same thing.

I’m going to go off on a tangent real quick

*Begin Tangent*

Because this is my life now, I want to let you know that throughout this course I’m going to be showing you the products I use and the links to them will most likely make me money (I gotta eat). If a product costs money, I’ll try to tell you about a free alternative. But the thing I learned about free stuff is that they usually take more time to do the same thing as a paid product. That’s pretty much the major difference, just to let you know. But I do try to use free whenever possible because I’m pretty patient and I like free.

*End Tangent*

I really hope you get a lot out of this course and I want you to know that I’m trying to bring as many people out of the Matrix (yea I know it’s an outdated reference but it will always apply to the world) as I can.

It’s time to take the red pill, enjoy and remember to Live Your Passion!

Get Your Website Up And Running Part 2

Today is the day we make your site look purdy.

It’s time to put a theme on your WordPress site.

First, we’ll go the free route. This is what I did when I first started out and I’d recommend it for the very beginning.

Go to WordPress.org, click on Extend and then Themes. This is where you’ll find all of the free themes that are vetted by WordPress, so you’ll know they are safe.

This is what I’d recommend because there are a lot of people out there that will take advantage of you and when you download their free theme it will have a virus or something bad in it.

That isn’t the majority but if you can avoid it I would just get your free theme from WordPress.org

So after you download it, you go log in at your site in the WordPress dashboard and then click on appearance. Then click on install themes and then upload the zip file that you downloaded from WordPress.org that had your theme in it.

It’s that simple!

Now to a slightly more expensive way to get more advanced themes.

These are really beautifully designed themes that have some pretty good customization options. Just go to ThemeForest and in the categories go to WordPress. Just search until you find one you like and do the same process to install it as the free theme.

If I had known about them when I first started, I would have gone with one of those themes because it has a great price point and they look a lot better.

Now on to the crème de la crèmeof themes.

Thesis Theme! This theme isn’t pretty out of the box but this is like putting a blank canvas on your car. You can make it look like anything and everything.

The only issue is that to make it look good, you do have to know a bit of html and css coding. The good news is that there are a lot of sources out there that pretty much have code to do what you want already made up. Plus there’s a great support forum if you need help.

This is the theme I currently use and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t want to learn a little bit of coding. But if you’re a go getter this is the best theme to make the site you want. It truly is a great theme.

Now you have a beautiful site and are just about ready for making money.

In the next post I’ll show you my recommended plugins and how to start getting people to love you.

What is Trade Finance?

If you are involved in businesses that regularly engage in international trade, it would be extremely helpful to have a trade finance account to help mitigate the risks associated with international purchases. Of course, we normally pride ourselves in being able to establish strong relationships with our business partners, but in the end this is no substitute to fair risk management via trade financing.

Some of the scenarios where trade financing is an extremely valuable arrangement are as follows:

  • Suppose you are purchasing goods from a supplier based in another country and that supplier requests that you pay for the goods before they are shipped; in most cases, this arrangement only becomes acceptable when you have trade financing. Basically, trade finance helps to mitigate the risks by involving reputable banks that provide various forms to support the legitimacy of the transaction. Your bank can now talk to the supplier’s bank and execute the necessary documentation to ensure that the transaction happens as agreed.
  • Another trade finance transaction governing the same agreement is when parties execute a trade credit insurance. Trade credit insurance works much like other insurance policies in that it protects a company from risks associated with goods that have yet to be received. These insurance policies allow a company to transfer liability to the banks so they can be protected from fraud or business eventualities like bankruptcy or default.

Today, most companies that engage in international trade rarely complete a transaction without the benefit of trade financing. As such, they have established trade finance accounts which are funds dedicated to managing and executing international trade risk management strategies. These strategies are closely managed by banks which hedge the transactions.

If you are operating on an international scale and you wish to avail of the security offered by trade financing, it is best to open trade finance accounts to help you execute your risk management options. Pick a reputable bank to handle your affairs so you can focus on securing the goods that will help you grow your business. By sharing the risk with the banks, you are enlisting the help of a reliable partner that will help you fleece out the risks and manage them on a tactical basis. It’s a win-win situation for any business owners and frankly, it is a strategy that all business owners who are involved in international trade should seek out.

Do What You Want

What Is Your Passion?

In order to do what you want, we need to actually find out what it is that you want to do.

So think deep down what it is that drives you. What is it that you want to do in life?

Just take a moment and write down what you think about the most.

For a long time I got sidetracked with things I wanted to be instead of what I wanted to do. Let me explain that and it might help you.

When I was younger I always wanted to be a lawyer because I loved the thought of arguing why my client is innocent. I loved finding ways around rules and such just so that I could prove I was right.

Then I came to the realization that Lawyers have to read a bunch of boring stuff, so I threw that idea out.

Then I wanted to be an accountant because I was getting good with money….and they pretty good money. But then I realized that it’s pretty boring work….and once again they have to read a lot of boring stuff.

So after that idea was thrown out I was at lunch with a friend and he asked me,

What are you passionate about?

What do you want to do in life?

No one ever seriously asked me that before. It took me back and I thought for a moment and said “I want to help people get their finances together because I know how much life sucks when you’re living paycheck to paycheck.”

Fast forward to today and I’ve started this site to help people get their finances together so that they can have the life they want.

I even changed the direction I’m going in once I realized that people can have the life they want even if they aren’t financially fit.

So try thinking back to a problem you overcame and see if you would like to help other people get past that problem. Your passion will change through time but the general framework will always be there.

Just sit down for 30 minutes to an hour and write out your answers to the questions

What is your passion?

What do you want to do in life?

Try to get rid of all of the distractions so that you can put all of your focus into your answers.

Please do this exercise so that you can help me realize my passion of helping people.

If you decide on Thesis theme be sure to get Thesis OpenHook. It’s like wp-insert but 10x more flexible. Also get Ultimate Thesis Theme Options to add even more flexability.

I know it’s a lot but I didn’t want to cheat you by giving you only the basics. I gave you the full arsenal of what I use. All of those aren’t required but I’d recommend all of them.

After all of those are installed it’s time to get people to love you. Guess how?

Give them something for free! Just like I’m giving you now. Do you love me yet? Great, then it’s working :)

But it doesn’t have to be this detailed, it can just be a top 10 report or something useful.

But, to give it to them you’re going to want to get their email so that you can give them more useful information and and if you show them something that’s useful for them and costs money, they might be inclined to buy it.

So how do you get their emails?

Sign up for an Aweber account, which is just 1 penny for the first month. They will basically help you collect addresses. They have a lot of great tutorials so I’m not going to go into more detail, but they do have a plugin to make it easier to add a form for people to sign up. They are the best company for that.

There is a somewhat free alternative called MailChimp. The only problem is that if you decide they aren’t as flexible as you want and you switch to Aweber (you will), you will lose most of the people on your list because they have to resubscribe (but you do get to send an email to them to get them to do that) , so be aware of that.

There are also free plugins that provide the same service but they can slow down your site a lot and don’t always go through or are most likely to be marked as spam…if they make it that far.

Now, you may have noticed I haven’t mentioned a free website host other than HostGator. The truth is that you can make a free site on WordPress.com or Blogger.com. Those are OK if you’re just doing a personal blog, but in actuality you don’t own the blog and can be shut down at anytime. There are a lot of terms and conditions that keep you from making money from your passion.

I’ve seen a Passion Seeker lose his site and they didn’t even give him a good reason. So he just quit. Don’t let that happen to you, especially since hosting is so cheap to get.
